LASIK candidacy depends on your age (usually 18+), a stable prescription for at least 1 year, adequate corneal thickness, and the absence of certain eye conditions. Our refractive surgery team performs a comprehensive pre-LASIK evaluation with Pentacam, corneal topography, and slit-lamp to determine the safest procedure for you, whether LASIK, Trans PRK, ICL, or another option.
Adults under 40 without symptoms should have an exam every 1–2 years. After 40, annual exams are recommended due to increased risk of glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic eye disease. Children should be examined at 6 months, age 3, before starting school, and annually thereafter. Diabetic or hypertensive patients should have annual exams regardless of age.
